Module 2 – Recognising abuse and mistreatment of older people

This module examines each of the sub-types of abuse in more detail. It focuses on the signs that may be present in both the older person as well as the person causing harm.

At the end of this lesson, learners will be able to:

• Identify indicators, red flags, and warning signs of different types of elder abuse
• Identify behavioural and physical signs of abuse and factors affecting the person causing harm
• Identify social and cultural considerations when identifying elder abuse
